Hi Petervers,
When internal calibrations are performed, the offset register is always close to 800000 hex and the full scale register is 5XXXXX. With a shorted input and DC excitation, the output conversions are about 800000 hex (0V with noise). With AC excitation enabled, I get higher codes. I believe that the problem is due to the reference being fixed at 5V. With ac excitation, the reference voltage gets inverted as part of the AC excitation. On my board, I have the reference tied to +5V full time.
So, you might need to:
1) Use DC excitation and confirm that the output conversions and offset/full-scale values are similar to the above
2) Use AC excitation. In this case, the loadcell needs to be connected and the externals MOSFETs are needed so that the voltages seen by the ADC during both phases are relevant.
