Hi Rich,
Your application is really interesting. So I have few more questions to ask from you.
1. Can you tell me more details on how you will use the pulse generator circuit in energy research?
2. Do you have a schematic diagram?
Regarding to your application, I suggest you can use the ADA4870 in your circuit. It has a wide supply range of 10V to 40V, high output current drive of 1A, slew rate of 2500V/us and it is ideal for driving a low resistance load. Please take a look at its datasheet for more details. http://www.analog.com/static/imported-files/data_sheets/ADA4870.pdf
You might also consider using DDS(DAC with ADA4870), ADA4870 as the output buffer. Kindly review this link to view some of our DDS architecture: Signal Synthesis | Electronic Test & Measurement | Instrumentation & Measurement | Analog Devices
You can also try adding RC circuit at the output of the buffer. This will help you control the rise/fall time of the pulse. Note that the time constant is equal to the product of R and C.
Regards,
Jay
