First, sorry about the bunch of questions. In the future I'll make sure to spread it out across different threads.
As for your questions:
1. The evaluation board is the EVAL-ADIS, so we are connecting the ADIS16480 to the EVAL-ADIS board and using the USB interface to connect to the BeagleBone Black.
2. The 'allegedly works' refers to our modprobe-ing the ADIS16480 drivers that are in the linux kernel tree. Working with drivers like this is new to all of us and, although we followed the directions we got from online, we just want to be totally sure the drivers are applied. This leads into our request for sample code, so we can see exactly how to call the driver functions (like adis16480_initial_setup).
